It only comes around once a
year and it ain’t all Christmas
December 2011
Hi to all of my faithful followers or readers it’s the rambler from the art club again going on about our latest news.
Firstly our evening watercolour demonstration by Tony Cowlishaw was a great success and was enjoyed by a large turnout of the membership. Tony as usual kept us all mesmerised and spellbound for two hours with his techniques. His painting of a summer landscape was terrific and I can’t think of a better way to spend two hours. The beauty of this is that for members it is free (session subs only).
Now back to the heading. Our annual show program is now under way and all information including entry forms, rules and categories are now available for printing off or downloading from our website (see below). The show will be held at Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February 2012. Don’t forget that we are All Media and this includes all hand crafts as well as digital arts, decoupage etc. If you do not have access to the internet or wish to talk to a real person then please contact the number below. Also there is something else that comes around once a year I would like to thank all those who read my drivel and wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. For Competition and Exhibition details contact Colin on Tel: 0115 8490048Follow this link to the 2012 Open Art Competition WEB page.Autumn 2011
Things
are really moving at Leamac – so are we!
Hi
folks it’s me again the rambler of the art club, things have really
been happening at this end as members of the club and those who know
us are aware.
Our
main news item is that we are moving premises and spreading our wings
so to speak. Our main evening has now been moved to a Thursday at
Petersham Hall, Briar Gate, Long Eaton, times are the same 7-9pm. Our
Monday afternoon session is moving to AJ’s Gallery at the rear of
the Chequers Inn, Stapleford, again times are the same 1-3pm.
The
Tony Cowlishaw watercolour workshop was great success as usual. Tony
always comes up trumps with a lovely picture for us to create or
attempt, and everybody’s efforts proved what a good teacher he is.
Following the workshop members have had other attempts to reproduce
the picture from the workshop and I can honestly say that some of
them are improving (tongue in cheek on that one)
We
have also completed our project for the year and we now have a set of
exhibition 50 display boards ready for our competition and exhibition
next February (more on that next month, but watch the website for
details. It is our intention to hire out the boards (at reasonable
cost) to other art groups as they were part funded using community
grants. Thanks to Derbyshire Community Foundation and East Midlands Airport Community Fund for their funding.
The
Continual Ramblings of The Art Club
Hi
folks it’s me again, the month of August has turned out to be the
busiest yet in our calendar so far. Our project for this year has
really taken off and we are going great guns, thanks to the hard work
of a lot of people and the financial support from the E.M.A Community
Fund and Derbyshire Community Foundation who have made our project
possible. We have now purchased all the materials needed to complete
it.
The Decoupage workshop in August was poorly attended but those of
us who went thoroughly enjoyed it. Many thanks to Wendy for giving us
a great workshop. On the events side we are now looking forward to
Helen’s pastel workshop which takes place on 10 September so I will
report on that next month. Tony
Cowlishaw’s Watercolour Workshop is on Saturday1st
October, there are still a few places left and we are open to
non-members should any wish to attend, please see our website for
details. Our Tuesday evening workshop on October 11th
is Life Study (models will be keeping their clothes on, one of them
could be me!) or Scraper Board again all are welcome.
Vic
Bearcroft Pastel workshop will take place on Saturday November 26th
again non-members are welcome. If any non-members would like to
attend please let me know as soon as you can so that I can order
materials.
